Kim Kardashian v Gwyneth Paltrow

Fashion face off!

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian was spotted in Cannes wearing a Emilio Pucci dress.

The same dress has already been seen on Gwyneth Paltrow in last year's Emmy Awards.

Who do you think brings out the best of the dress?

Kim Kardashian flaunting her curves at all the right places

Or Gwyneth Paltrow? The lean and healthy looking Mama

Joyce Wong v Daphne Iking

First time to have local bloggers for comparison.

Both are wearing dress from online site Doublewoot. My guess is both of them have been sponsored by Doublewoot. If you are interested, you can check out their blog for further details. Pictures are taken from Doublewoot facebook page.

Daphne Iking is wearing a soft pink with the ribbon sash while Joyce Wong went for a more funky look with red colour and no girly ribbon sash.

Who do you prefer more?

Doublewoot

As promised, here is the review on Doublewoot. Sorry for the delay, needed more time to gather the pictures and information.

Doublewoot is a local online site based in Penang. They used to be a blogshop but they launched their own website this year. The website is simple to view, not too colourful and very informative.

They also have a facebook page and keep their customers updated with the launch of every collection. They update every Thursday and Sunday.

Doublewoot is owned by two sisters Helen and Heliene. You can find their pictures posted on their facebook page (see below). They were also featured in local newspaper the Star previously.

Their dresses are simple. Plain colours, straight forward cutting, subtle and nothing fancy. A lot of them are suitable for work wear. They are famous for selling flare dress or also known as skater dress.

Pastel colours, making a huge wave now
Back to the 70s, polka dot comeback

Great photoshopping skill. You can see that from their pictures on facebook. All pictures looked really professional.

They sell most designer inspired pieces from Rouland Mouret, Stella McCartney, Victoria Beckham, Karen Millen to street style Topshop and Dorothy Perkins.

Upon their success in these few years, they now have their own label as well. Here is one of their in house design, Darla.

Darla by Doublewoot - RM70.00
Their prices are average. It used to be cheaper but maybe because of the new website, a lot of dresses are at RM70.00 or more than that. When they were operating via blogshop, most of the time the price are fixed at RM69.00.

I used to be a Doublewoot customer. I purchased quite a few dresses from them but stopped doing so as I slowly see a lot of other online sites selling the same design. No matter how nice a dress is, you would not want to be caught dead in the same dress as another person IN PUBLIC. You can check out Curves Boutique, IIvory Couture, Attire Attic and Pandora DeBoutique. They sell similar designs as well.

But note on the postage! Always remember to calculate postage as cost of your dress! Don’t be lazy to do your math!

Doublewoot is now doing promotion and they are giving free Poslaju delivery and trust me, they post out your order FAST. So if you like their dresses, go and shop your hearts out!
They also ship internationally. You can find the rates on their website.
Lately Doublewoot have been using celebrity bloggers to promote their site. Good and bad for that. More people knowing means more people buying and that would mean more people wearing the same dress around town. Well, its all up to you, if you really love the design of the dress, why not?

Plus, there is a promotion of RM5 discount now if you key in any of the codes provided in these blogs below. You will need to key in the codes upon checkout at Doublewoot's website.

If you want to fully utilize the discount, buy one and key in one code. Get the RM5 discount. Place another separate order and key in another code, get RM5 discount. Do that till you exhaust out all the bloggers code. Its free delivery as well so DO THE MATH!

This is such a long post but I hope its helpful!

The Zuckerberg Wedding Dress

By now, I'm sure everyone knows that Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg got married to Priscilla Chan.

Congratulations to the newly weds! Finally tie the knot after going out for about 8 years.

Anyone curious to know about the wedding dress?

With the fortune that Mr Zuckerberg has, Vera Wang should be nothing. But Mrs Zuckerberg opted for a LA base designer, Claire Pettibone. Check out her website here --> Claire Pettibone Wedding Designer

Love it?

I personally love the sexy lace back and how simple and yet classy it is.

That is the way the Zuckerbergs roll I guess, simple.

Lexi Lyla v IIvory Couture

For those of you that still do not know, Lexi Lyla is an online site in Singapore. Created by their own celebrity blogger, Dawn Yang and her lil sister.

The site looks CLASSY! With the nice design and nice pictures, even the model is ang moh.

Well so I was doing what I always do, browsing through sites, checking the pictures, I came across the new launch from Lexi Lyla and saw this dress in particular; the Catherine Dress.

Lexi Lyla - SGD 62.00
Lexi Lyla is selling it at SGD 62.00, that is RINGGIT MALAYSIA 151.00

Our own Malaysia blogshop; IIvory Couture is also selling the exact same piece at guess what? RM70.00

IIvory Couture - RM70.00

And hey, IIvory Couture posted that in April and its SOLD OUT now. Catherine Dress is Lexi Lyla's new launch, May 2012.

Wow, really? One month later? How slow can the fashion scene be in Singapore? Or maybe because there is no competition?

Unless the material of Catherine dress is damn good, its a bit too pricy dont you think? SGD62 is about RM151.00. YOU CAN BUY ABOUT 3 DRESSES!

Lexi Lyla only provide free local shipping for purchase of more than SGD160. Can't even imagine the cost for international shipping!

Maybe the model is expensive? Maybe the website is expensive? Maybe the photoshoot is expensive? or maybe its just because its Dawn Yang? hmm.....curiouser curiouser

Singaporeans should start looking into Malaysian blogshops. Fast updates, latest trend, cheaper, even if its considered 'international' shipping, it wont cost you that much to bear for that.

Anyone a Lexi Lyla's customer? Really love to hear some feedback!

Attire Attic v Cocktails Martinis

Hello lovelies, anyone of you happen to love this dress?

A lovely flare dress with lace detail at the top. Gives you a feminine and girly look at the same time.

I spotted 2 online sites selling it. Attire Attic and Cocktails & Martinis.

Here is the one from Attire Attic

Attire Attic - RM62.00

Attire Attic - RM62.00
And here is the same dress at Cocktails & Martinis.

Cocktails & Martinis - RM65.00
Both are selling the same brown colour.

Cocktails & Martinis have Black colour while Attire Attic have soft pink!

Difference of the price is not a lot, just RM3.00.

However on postage, both provide the same rate for Poslaju which is RM6.00 for one piece of dress. Attire Attic allows you the option of registered post at the price of RM3.00.

Cocktails & Martinis do not give free postage. Attire Attic do but you will need to purchase 5 pieces and above (do note that the free postage is registered mail and not Poslaju).

Well, you do the math! ;)

Queen of Colours-Jessica Alba

Who doesn't love her?

She may be low on radar now focusing on being a good wife and mum but she sure hasn't lost any of her fashion touch.

Pretty Chase

As promised, here is the review on Pretty Chase. They have a lovely website. Very informative as well. They have a Terms and Conditions section, Customer Feedback, FAQs and Shipping and Return Policy. Here is their website --> Pretty Chase website

They provide free delivery within Malaysia. They ship internationally as well. You can see from the picture below, which is taken from their website on the charges of the Shipping for other countries. Very detailed.
Pretty Chase -International Shipping Policy and Charges
They accept all kind of payments. Pay pal, credit cards, Maybank2u, CIMB, RHB, Ambank, Alliance Bank, Hong Leong and even mobile money. Very flexible and convenient for consumers.
List of payments Pretty Chase accept
They can be contacted via email or the customer feedback section at their website.

Browsing through their website, it is apparent that their clothes cover the two most general women body size. The bigger size and the smaller size. S,M and L. No XS or XL.

This is very welcoming as their target market is bigger. Women of all sizes can shop there. You can see that from the design of the clothes as well.

The bigger size clothes are generally more loose fitting but it maintains the feminine design and still look fashionable.

Pretty Chase - Dresses that are more loose fitting
It is very easy to spot which kind of dresses are for the more petite size. The dresses will be modeled by a model that shows her face. Here are some of the example for your understanding.

Pretty Chase - Dresses that are smaller in cutting
The price of their dresses are slightly tricky. It may seem to be cheaper because they are using RM66.90, RM69.90 and RM59.90. It is generally TEN CENTS cheaper than the standard online pricing. The pricing of their clothes are very wide, it can be as low as RM49.90 to as high as RM89.90. So its all up to you on how much you like the design of the clothes.

They have facebook page as well but I prefer viewing on their website as it is more updated and detailed. The pictures on their website are more lively too, the facebook pictures are quite plain.

Check out their facebook page at prettychase. They are having a "Share to Win" contest and will end on 22nd May 2012. Just like their page and share it to stand a chance to win RM25 vouchers.

Anyone bought from them? Let me know how it is!

Gloriously High

I am a big fan of shoes especially high heels. Well, who doesnt love it?

So happy to know that a local designer who primarily design wedding gowns is going to launch a line of shoes known as Gloriously High.

Here is a picture of some of the shoes. Excited much?

Follow @Gloriouslyhigh on twitter for more updates or like their Facebook page at Gloriously High by Geoffery & Gilbert

I hope there will be more local shoe designers. Aren't we all bored with Vincci, Nose and Charles & Keith.

Like I always said, Competition and Choices is good for Consumers!

Here or there?

Brief update!

A reader dropped me an email saying she is interested in the below two dresses and asked me if I have seen it before elsewhere.

Well, yes I do. So here it goes.

As reviewed before, Curves Boutique sell their dresses at RM70.
The other online site that sells the same dress as them is Doublewoot.

Curves Boutique - RM70.00
Doublewoot - RM69.00
Not much difference. Just RM1.

Curves Boutique - RM70.00
Doublewoot - RM70.00
Both online shop are selling the above same dress at the same price, RM70.00.

However you might want to consider about the postage charges.

Curves Boutique gives free delivery for purchase of 5 pieces and above.

Doublewoot gives free delivery for purchase of RM100 and above. So basically you need to buy 2 dresses and postage is FREE!

Always remember to add your postage cost and average out the price of the dress. That way, you can get the best value out of online shopping!

Although you might think that its okay to pay more since the dresses get delivered right at your doorstep, well think again. If other online site can give free delivery and still earn profit, why can't this online site provide free delivery?

Its good to be spoilt by choices and hey, competition is healthy for consumers *winks* May the best site with the best deal wins!
